Make Better Leadership Decisions Using Leadercast NOW
You Can't Do Everything
How are you delegating and creating shared value among your team members?
As the founder of several digital lifestyle brands -- including CraftBoxGirls.com, LifestyleBloggersSociety.com and NationalDIYDay.com -- Lynn Lilly works to empower and inspire women and youth through creative do-it-yourself projects, crafts and simple recipes. Lynn's mission is to inspire and empower women to follow their dreams, whether it is turning a hobby into a business, being the best mom they can be or climbing the corporate ladder. In her debut Leadercast Now video, Lynn shares the keys to building a well-rounded, successful team; it requires humility, diligence, keen leadership insight, and the ability to delegate.
Lynn suggests starting the delegation process by picking one thing that you’re most passionate about in your current role and allocating the rest to others. “As a leader, [at first] you want to do everything with your business because you're so passionate about it. I am learning that there are things I have to give up. I have to be able to bring other people in as I get busier and am doing more and more. I can't do 100 things at 100 percent … you can’t do everything.” Once she realized this, Lynn’s next step was to assess her strengths and weaknesses and delegate accordingly.
“It's learning to be self-aware of what your weaknesses are and then throwing away your pride and going to find great and talented people who can help you.”
