Smarter Goal Setting Means Asking the Right Questions
Are you identifying the right questions to ask?
John Van Vleck, Founder of The Green Room Collective, explains the importance of asking the right questions to set better goals. In fact, John advises that before we try to solve a problem or define an objective, we must first identify what the question is!
John's leadership approach is to help his clients turn a business objective into a human-focused objective; after all, he adds, most businesses are in business to serve people.

We spend a lot of time, I spend a lot of time working with my clients on trying to identify what the question is. One of the things I've noticed, that very often, my clients, people come to me with a business problem or a business objective, and what we're really ultimately trying to do is turn that business problem or objective into a human problem. Because after all, most businesses are in business to serve people and people consume products and they use products. If we're able to turn that question around from an inward focus to an outward focus, or look at the problem from the outside in, I think we're able to articulate it and define it in a way that makes it go beyond an objective, but now we're solving for a real want or need that's missing or needs to be enhanced in someone's life.
