Michele Velcheck, CEO of Solid Source Real Estate Companies, discusses what leaders can learn about themselves when they dive head-on into their fears.

“When we face our greatest fears is when we grow the most,” says Michele, noting that her greatest fear is heights. “What I learned by facing my greatest fear by bungee jumping was looking down and seeing the person who had just done it before me walking up the side… All I have to do is jump. I don't have to navigate my way down.”

Watch the video to hear Michele’s experience with leaning into fear.

When we face our greatest fears is when we grow the most. And for me personally, my greatest fear was heights and not just being like high on a mountain, but looking over like on a cliff. And so four years ago, I decided to face my fear and went bungee jumping.

And so what I learned by facing my greatest fear by bungee jumping was looking down and seeing the person who had just done it before me walking up the side. And so just realizing, all I have to do is jump. I don't have to navigate my way down.

I think that most problems are that way you just have to make a decision and take one step at a time and the outcome is going to be good or it's going to be something that you want to change, but you just have to lean into it and take action.
