Employee Engagement Starts With Connectivity
Does your team feel connected to the work they do?
Libby Goldschmid, corporate director of sales at Core-Mark International, explains why connectivity is a core part of employee engagement.
“I define employee engagement by connectivity,” shares Libby. “It's about how much an individual is connected to their team, to the company, to the work they're doing, to their job satisfaction, to their end results, to the payment and compensation. It's all related in terms of connectivity.”

And I think connectivity is so important too because it matters as how people work together from a team environment to then have connectivity to the success of the company. People believe in what we're trying to do for our customers. People really embrace that. People actually care. They want to do a good job and when they do a good job, everybody is rewarded.
Everybody is held accountable so they know what they were responsible for doing. And I think it does go to the leadership at the top line in terms of we are all working for the same end result and each department and each person knows exactly how their functionality and how their workload contributes to the success of the company.
And if you've got strong employee engagement, everybody is going to put forth their best attitude, everybody's going to put forth their best effort. And through that, all ships are going to rise to where you've got success from an organizational standpoint.
The culture becomes one that's liberating, and people can embrace, and they want to work there. That then populates the whole company and system. Then, from the outside, people are going to want to be part of that. So you're bringing in a new talent with new ideas and you're just going to be better for that in the long haul. Everything starts with a little spark and then goes to a huge fire and it starts with attitude and effort.
