Can you really put yourself in someone else’s shoes?
Tysonn Betts, design vice president of global family care at Procter & Gamble, discusses the limit and next step of empathy for leaders.
Empathy has a limit. “I can never truly walk in your shoes,” says Tysonn, “but I can certainly hear your story and try to understand what your journey has been and how it might've made you feel.”
Once you know someone’s story, the next step is to act on it. Once you are aware of a different perspective and insight, how will you use it to change the solutions you come up with or the decisions you make as a leader?
