John Williams

John Williams' mission is to help others take radical ownership for every element of their lives. He is passionate and driven for cultural change for students and wherever people desire to do better than yesterday.

John is founder and president of Life that Counts, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which has helped bring in more than $1.25 million in funding for positive youth development solutions in its less than two years of existence.

John is also author of Rules4Success, and developer of the B.E.L.I.E.V.E. curriculum for peer-based mentoring, and is the creator of the HERO Training 21 Day Compassion Challenge.

He has delivered more than 1,200 keynotes, workshops and breakouts, and gives around 150 assembly talks per school year for audiences of students and educational professionals. He speaks, trains and consults on overcoming adversity, youth culture, effective leadership and positive youth cultural development. He is a certified provider for Peer Mentoring by Friends First as a part of a grant-funded initiative provided through the Office for Justice and Juvenile Delinquency Prevention. John is a professional member of the National Speakers Association and a guest columnist for His favorite thing to do is to help schools change their culture.

In addition to schools across America, John has consulted, trained or spoken for the Alabama Department of Education, The University of Alabama, The Alabama Revenue Commissioners Association, RUSKEN Corporation, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes of America, Mission Discovery and a host of others. He is a graduate of Birmingham Southern with work on Youth Culture and holds undergraduate degrees in Theology and Communications and has Master level training in Business Administration.

Having grown up in an environment of poverty, violence and substance abuse, and never having met his father, John contends that there is hope for the individual and the organization that is willing to invest the time and energy to create remarkable outcomes. He believes that our future work must address the need in creating global leaders, in all sectors of human exchange, who are competent in IQ (Intellectual Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), SQ (Social Quotient) and CQ (Cultural Quotient).

John’s dream in life, early on, was for his wife to know, be loved by, cared for, protected and supported by her husband. He aims for the same with his children. As a husband for 15 years and dad to two boys, Jayden and Joshua, John is getting to live his dream.
